common kybella questions

FAQ
what is the cost of a kybella treatment?

Kybella treatments are customized to each individual patient and the number of treatment sessions required will vary by individual. Our goal is always to provide the most natural-looking and improved outcome. During your personalized cosmetic consultation, we will provide you with our expert recommendations after listening to your goals and expectations. A cost estimate will be generated for you at the time of your consultation In general, patients should expect to budget at least several hundred dollars for Kybella

are kybella injections painful?

Kybella involves multiple small injections into the skin. Discomfort with treatment is usually minimal and measures are taken to ensure your comfort. There may be a slight stinging sensation or prick at the time of injection. Many patients do report some burning immediately after the injections that is tolerable. Thankfully, Kybella treatments are very quick – usually around 15 to 30 minutes or less.

how long do the effects of kybella last?

The results of Kybella are long-lasting, as the injections lead to permanent destruction of fat cells in the treatment area. However, changes to the skin and other tissues of the neck will continue to occur as a result of the normal aging process. As such, patients may seek additional cosmetic treatments for their particular needs in the future. Results may vary.

how soon will i see the results from kybella?

The results from Kybella are not immediate. Response is usually assessed 12 weeks after the treatment once swelling has subsided and fat degradation has begun. Kybella injections work best when combined with a healthy weight and lifestyle

will i need multiple treatments?

The number of injection sessions needed depends on a variety of factors including the amount of fat to be dissolved, the goals of the patient and individual responses to the Kybella injections. A minimum of two injection sessions is almost always required. Treatment sessions are spaced at least 1 month apart.

what is the process of getting kybella?

A cosmetic consultation is required prior to scheduling a Kybella treatment. On the day of your treatment, your provider will start by assessing your anatomy and symmetry after thoroughly discussing your personal goals, motivations, and expectations. The skin will then be cleaned and prepped. Although local anesthesia is not needed for Kybella injections, you will be given an ice pack to numb the area prior to your treatment. A marking grid will be applied to the skin to ensure precise placement and provide a treatment map. The provider will then perform a series of injections to deposit the Kybella. It is common to experience some burning and stinging during injections. Once completed, any markings will be removed.

what areas can be treated with kybella?

Kybella is FDA approved to treat the submental region to reduce the appearance of a “double chin.

are there any side effects of kybella injections?

Common side effects with Kybella include minor redness, swelling, bruising, induration, tenderness, or numbness. These particular side effects are quite normal and often resolve within a few weeks.

is there anything i should avoid before or after a kybella treatment?

We recommend avoiding make-up, jewelry, deodorant, perfumes, or powder in the areas to be treated on the day of your treatment. If possible, avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, NSAIDS, or fish oils, if possible, for 7 days prior to your treatment to help lessen the chance of bruising. Alcohol should also be avoided for at least 3-4 days prior to your treatment. After your Kybella injections, alcohol and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. We recommend sleeping with a slight elevation of your head and using ice packs on/off for a few days to reduce any normal swelling.
