what to expect*

preparation

If you and your healthcare provider decide that XTRAC Excimer Laser is right for you, we will first call and review insurance benefits/costs. Once this information is obtained, we will contact you to schedule an initiation visit.

At your initiation visit, your provider will evaluate your skin type, condition, and treatment areas in order to calibrate your starting dose. You will receive your first treatment at your initiation visit.

procedure

The XTRAC Excimer Laser procedure itself is quick and straightforward. Protective eyewear will be provided. The laser will be positioned over the affected skin area and when fired, will deliver a concentrated beam of UVB light. The procedure takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes on average, depending on how many areas are treated. Treatments are relatively painless

aftercare

Proper aftercare is important for the best results. It is advisable to keep the treated areas moisturized and protected from sun exposure. Redness and itching may occur but should be minimal. Any blistering or other side effects should be noted and discussed with the provider

resuts + next steps

Regular treatment visits are required to ensure the best possible result. After initiation, treatments are authorized for up to 90 days. Most patients come for treatment 2-3 times per week. Depending on the patient’s response and the nature of the skin condition, maintenance treatments might be required periodically to sustain the results.

After 90 days of treatment, you’ll need to schedule a visit with your provider. This will allow them to assess your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and decide if more treatment is needed.
