Periodic maintenance treatments are often recommended to maintain the results from Juvéderm treatments. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are metabolized by the body over time. As such, it is recommended to keep up with your Juvéderm treatments once every 1-2 years or whenever you feel needed to help maintain your volume, structure, and youthful glow.  

The Juvéderm Collection of Fillers are versatile, unique products that are FDA-approved to treat various areas of the face. The most common areas treated with filler include the jawline, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, the chin and the lips.  

A cosmetic consultation is required prior to scheduling a Juvéderm treatment. 

On the day of your treatment, avoid makeup or moisturizer. We’ll apply numbing cream for your comfort, clean the area, and mark it for precise injections. Most patients can expect a slight prick and stinging sensation during each injection that is mild.   

Depending on the specific filler used and the areas treated, a noticeable result should be visible immediately after treatment. Full effects take 14 days to appear.  

Juvéderm fillers are safe, FDA-approved injections. Common side effects with Juvéderm include minor redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or palpable lumps/bumps. These particular side effects are quite normal and often resolve within a few weeks. More serious side effects can occur but are rare. Talk with your provider more about side effects and potential risks during your consultation.   

We recommend avoiding make-up on the areas to be treated on the day of your treatment. If possible, avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, NSAIDS, or fish oils, if possible, for 7 days prior to your treatment to help lessen the chance of bruising. Alcohol should also be avoided for at least 3-4 days prior to your treatment.  

After your Juvéderm injections, alcohol and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. We recommend sleeping with a slight elevation of your head and using ice packs on/off for a few days to reduce any normal swelling.

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm help replace lost facial volume, improve lines and folds, and enhance a person’s natural features. Botox on the other hand, is used to treat lines and wrinkles that result from dynamic movement (muscular contraction).
