common prp questions

FAQ
what is prp and how does it work?

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a treatment that uses the healing properties of your own blood to rejuvenate skin and stimulate hair growth. It works by concentrating platelets from your blood and injecting them into targeted areas to promote natural tissue repair and growth.

what is the cost of a prp treatment?

Every single patient is unique, and as a result, treatment plans are individualized to provide the most improved outcome. Therefore, cost varies based on locations or number of treatments recommended. Plan to budget at least several hundred dollars per treatment

are prp injections painful?

Discomfort is minimal but varies per individual. Numbing measures and other methods are used to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

what areas can be treated with prp?

At Revelus Dermatology, we frequently use PRP to rejuvenate the under eye area, as well as in the scalp to help with hair loss.

will i need multiple treatments?

Depending on the area or condition that is being treated, we often recommend multiple treatments initially, followed by regular maintenance treatments (ex. annually)

how long does a prp session take?

Typically, a PRP session can take about 30 minutes, depending on the treated area’s size and complexity.

what is the recovery time after getting prp?

Recovery time is usually short. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately, although there might be some redness or mild swelling for a few days.

are there any side effects of prp injections?

Side effects are usually minor and may include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Serious complications are rare, especially as there are no foreign substances being injected – only your own plasma!

can prp be incorporated with other services?

PRP can enhance the results of complimentary procedures by further stimulating collagen production and promoting overall rejuvenation. Most commonly, PRP is offered as an add-on or “glide” to treatments such as RF microneedling or microneedling.
