The results of Sculptra are long-lasting, as the injections lead to stimulation of the body’s own collagen production. Sculptra’s effects can last for up to two years. Patients often return for periodic maintenance treatments after this time. Sculptra can also be paired with other cosmetic treatments or injectables to further enhance results. Results may vary.  

Sculptra treatments are customized to each individual patient and the number of treatment sessions required will vary by individual. Every single patient is unique, and as a result, treatment plans are individualized to provide the most natural-looking and improved outcome. For most patients, approximately 2-4 treatments are needed to achieve full correction. As Sculptra works with your own body to stimulate collagen production, multiple treatments are necessary to maximize results.  

We recommend avoiding make-up, jewelry, deodorant, perfumes, or powder in the areas to be treated on the day of your treatment. If possible, avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, NSAIDS, or fish oils, if possible, for 7 days prior to your treatment to help lessen the chance of bruising. Alcohol should also be avoided for at least 3-4 days prior to your treatment. After your Sculptra injections, alcohol and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. We recommend sleeping with a slight elevation of your head and using ice packs on/off for a few days to reduce any normal swelling. 

It is recommended to massage any area treated with Sculptra for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days after injection. This is known as the “5-5-5 rule”. For the first 24 hours or so, it is recommended to apply ice on/off to reduce swelling. Finally, it is important to avoid direct exposure to sun and UV light until any redness or swelling has resolved.  

Sculptra is a safe, FDA-approved product that can help the body naturally restore lost facial volume, improve lines and folds, and enhance a person’s facial features. Common side effects with Sculptra include minor redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or palpable lumps/bumps. These particular side effects are quite normal and often resolve within a few weeks. As with any skin injection procedure, there is always a possible risk of infection. At Revelus Dermatology, the safety of our patients is our top priority, and all appropriate measures are taken to lessen the chance of a post-procedure infection.
