A cosmetic consultation is required prior to scheduling a Sculptra treatment. On the day of your treatment, your provider will start by assessing your anatomy and symmetry after thoroughly discussing your personal goals, motivations, and expectations.
A numbing cream will be applied to and remain on the treatment area for 15-30 minutes. The treatment area will be cleaned and prepped for the procedure. Often times, injection points and anatomical structures will be marked on the skin to ensure precise placement and provide a treatment map. The provider will then perform a series of injections and/or use a cannula to deposit the Sculptra.
The provider may use different techniques such as massage or rubbing to distribute Sculptra evenly. Once completed, any markings will be removed. Most patients can expect a slight prick and stinging sensation during each injection that is mild.
A noticeable result should be visible immediately after treatment. However, this is due to the fluid that the Sculptra is mixed into. A few days after treatment, the visible folds and wrinkles will return. This is normal. It can take several weeks before Sculptra’s effect is truly noticeable, as new collagen synthesis that the filler initiates take time to naturally occur.
