Yes, PRP can slow shedding and stimulate new growth in hereditary hair loss, especially when started early. It is often combined with other hair restoration therapies.

Most patients start with 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months for best results.

At Revelus Dermatology, we frequently use PRP to rejuvenate the under eye area, as well as in the scalp to help with hair loss.  

Depending on the area or condition that is being treated, we often recommend multiple treatments initially, followed by regular maintenance treatments (ex. annually).   

Typically, a PRP session can take about 30 minutes, depending on the treated area’s size and complexity. 

Recovery time is usually short. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately, although there might be some redness or mild swelling for a few days. 

Side effects are usually minor and may include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Serious complications are rare, especially as there are no foreign substances being injected – only your own plasma! 

PRP can enhance the results of complimentary procedures by further stimulating collagen production and promoting overall rejuvenation. Most commonly, PRP is offered as an add-on or “glide” to treatments such as RF microneedling or microneedling.
